Bosch Crash Data Retrieval System
A way of interrogating the black box in cars to retrieve a deltaV, which is the change in
speed of the car in the collision.
Colour Tester
This is useful for checking whether 30% luminance contrast is available on the nosing of steps, as required in the Australian Standard AS1428. This check establishes whether an item is visible or not by law.
Materials Testing Device
This machine applies compression and tension to a particular material to get the force deflection characteristic. This characteristic helps to determine the probability of a fracture or head injury in my simulations.
Drop Test Rig
The drop test in the view is a particular variation of a head form, where the dots on the fin are tracked to generate an impact velocity and a height of drop. We have capabilities of up to 6m drops. Complies with Australian Standard AS 4422 and the American Society for
testing and measuring ASTM F355.
Slip Resistance Tester
When a person has slipped, we take this device to the site where the slip happened to obtain a number representing slip resistance on the scale of P0 to P5. This testing is in line with AS 4663 2013. We are then able to look up the recommendations in HB:198 for theparticular environment. We can then determine compliance.
Highspeed Camera
This is an inspection camera so that we can look at machinery to find out what was wrong with it. Another use is in drop testing, to gain an intimate knowledge of the impact.
Calibration Cage
This is used in conjunction with CCTV footage to trap offenders at a moment in time so that we can measure their height and other biometrics. I have done this and provided expert reports in over 50 cases for the NSW police.
Vibration Testing
An emerging problem in the workplace is vibration, for example if you are driving over
rough terrain. There are restrictions on whole body vibrations. We can measure a value for
comparison with a 2008 European Union document entitled Workplace Exposure to
Vibration in Europe: An Expert Review. This is the worldwide reference document.
Simulation Capacity
We have capabilities to simulate any impact or motion. For example, shown above is a
shopping trolley that tipped over.
